Sotheby’s tracks priceless art uninterrupted with offline capabilities and scanning devices

Sotheby’s is a fine arts auction house that has been in business since 1744. Every piece of property that comes through the building is touched by Neptune Software in some way. Sotheby’s has a very dynamic environment where their items go up for sale on a scheduled basis. They need to be able to know where anything is at any given point in time – online or offline – so as items move from their warehouse to their galleries, they are able to scan and track them as they move.

They can go into the areas where there’s no WiFi coverage, scan all the items they need to and when they return to WiFi coverage they’re able to upload those changes into our backend SAP system without interruption,”  Rich Stubits, Senior Applications Analyst IT, Sotheby’s.

Using their existing ABAP talent, Sotheby’s was able to implement Neptune Software’s low-code rapid application development platform, Neptune DXP, and create new applications with minimal training allowing them to onboard their team fast. After a few short days, they were developing robust mobile solutions on and offline using Android scanning devices. Right now Sotheby’s is using Neptune Software extensively in their New York warehouse and has plans to expand their use to other warehouses throughout the world.
